Looking for a lifeguard Job? Meet our lifeguard recruitment team.

It is the time of the year when the days start to get that little bit longer, and our thoughts turn optimistically to some fun in the sun. With the nicer weather comes an increase in demand for outdoor lifeguards and lido lifeguards on top of the usual demand for indoor pool lifeguards. If you are looking for a lifeguard job or run a facility that is in need of more pool-side staff then you need to act quick before all the good ones are taken!

Being the helpful sort that we are, we’re here to introduce you to our lifeguard jobs team as we know it’s nice to know who you will be dealing with once you send that email or pick up that phone.

We are pleased to introduce the talent in charge of the lifeguard jobs sector of 4Leisure Recruitment. Amy Gilmour and LaToya Bailey are here to tell us a little more about who they are and how they came to be involved in leisure recruitment, in particular looking after our lifeguard jobs.

Amy Gilmour lifeguard recruiter

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Amy and I am the Health and Fitness recruitment manager for temporary leisure staff. I am passionate about delivering a result for both clients and candidates.

How did you get started as a leisure recruiter?

I actually started my own career as a temporary worker for 4Leisure Recruitment to help pay my way through university! I worked my way up to Regional Sales Manager in the public sector, and have made the move to 4 Leisure Recruitment. I know how things work because I’ve been there and done that. I know we are the right people to nurture candidates because I have seen it done and have been a part of it first-hand.

What knowledge do you bring to the role?

My qualifications include MSc Sports Science, Level 3 PT, Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Spin Instructor, and Circuits Instructor. I was also a qualified lifeguard for six years. I know leisure and lifeguard jobs pretty well!

What’s the best thing about being a lifeguard recruiter?

The thing I like best about being a leisure recruiter is that I feel we provide a real support for our clients and often it’s great to see how what we do relieves operational pressure for them and their day to day business. It’s always great to speak to candidates and there is such a huge range from every level. I love being able to watch them securing their role and then watching as they progress their way up. It’s very rewarding.

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m LaToya and I am a Recruitment Consultant on the Health and Fitness temp team for 4 Leisure Recruitment.

How did you end up in leisure recruiting?

I came to 4Leisure after working as a membership consultant for David Lloyd. I really wanted to stay in the leisure industry and thought recruitment would be an exciting change, and I was right! Working here is such a fast paced environment, things change on a daily basis and everything moves so quickly, it’s great to be a part of something that is so energetic and responsive.

What experience do you have of working on the front line in the leisure industry?

I have always been involved in the leisure industry. After university I worked as a sports coach in primary school, teaching gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, multi-sports and Zumba! Leisure is in my blood and I very much look forward to keeping it that way.

What knowledge do you bring to the role?

Apart from a BA in Dance, I also hold qualifications in teaching Zumba, cheerleading, gymnastics, basketball, and dodgeball.

Thank you, ladies!

There we are a quick peek into the world of our 4Leisure family and the team who organise everything to do with our Lifeguard jobs, both indoor and outdoor, pool or beach.

Professional Beauty London 2017

On 27th Feb, 4Leisure Recruitment Director Jean Wing Hing and Spa and Beauty Recruiter Ali McAlister attended Professional Beauty London, possibly the biggest spa and beauty trade show in the UK.

Jean was there to talk on the education forum and share his experience as a spa and beauty industry recruitment specialist. Did you get to hear him?

Jean Wing Hing of 4 Leisure Recruitment at Professional Beauty London 2017

The main take-aways from the talk were……

  • Getting new entrants into the world of spa and beauty who can do the basics well is becoming more of a focus. Employers are keen to recruit spa and beauty school graduates who have a solid skillset in the basics – the rest can be learnt as you go along.
  • There is concern however that this ‘ongoing training’ is being disproportionately carried out by the larger spa and beauty companies who have the resources to do so.
  • More role models are needed for spa and beauty students to help them engage and choose better career pathways. The different opportunities available to graduates beyond the basics needs much more promotion.
  • There are more people trying to train in celebrity make-up courses than jobs available in this sub-sector. The gap between what people want to study and what skills the industry is currently demanding needs to close.

After a great debate from all the panel and the audience, Jean then moved on to the College Zone, where he was the very last speaker right at the heart of the show. He filled the 15 minute slot with his wisdom on opportunities for students and graduates in the spa and beauty sector.
