About Role

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Advanced Gym Instructor to work in a friendly and close-knit gym team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new and challenging environment that will help to develop your skills as an instructor.

What we do:

Supporting 400 disabled people from Tower Hamlets and Hackney to exercise each year, Ability Bow is inner London's only remaining disabilities and long-term health conditions gym. 

As a small charity, we are committed to keeping disabled people fitter for longer and encouraging the clients they work with from diverse local communities to make lasting physical and emotional wellbeing changes. 

The Role:

Working for our small charity - which provides essential support to people in east London to live active and healthier lives - the successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of a safe and effective exercise service to all Ability Bow service users including those with complex disabilities.

The Advanced Gym Instructor’s remit will predominantly cover providing personal one to one training and supporting Clarion Housing Group clients who meet criteria to attend our gym.

Who we’re Looking For:

Seeking an Advanced Gym Instructor with a positive, friendly and resourceful approach, it is also crucial the successful candidate will have skills and experience within:

  • One-to-one client personal training with experience of supporting patients to set and achieve goals
  • Conducting assessments, case study and reporting work on patients to highlight to external project funders
  • Adhering to best organisational practice and procedure (and wider NICE guidelines)
  • Exercise and fitness project delivery to all sectors of the community
  • Referral relationships with local partners (including GPs/hospitals)
  • General health and safety, business development and team working practices (ranging from attending marketing events, to managing own personal development)

Contract Details

Working Hours: 8 hours per week (Monday – 1pm to 5pm and Thursday – 1pm to 5pm)

Contract Type: Self Employed, fixed term, 6 month contract. Potential adhoc work.

Provisional Start Date: End of February 2019
