Cemeteries Manager – West London

I am currently supporting my client in the search for a Cemeteries Manager to manage all Cemetery Services across a large West London Borough. The Cemeteries Manager will ensure that the burial process is professional and dignified for the bereaved, fulfilling the aims of the Bereavement Charter. You will also ensure all statutory, financial, Council and company process are complied with at all times. 

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Cemeteries Officers covering bereavement services across the borough; including performance management, health and safety, and risk management.
  • Responsible for the delivery of excellent customer services to a diverse, customer base, including liaison with local funeral directors and other local authority departments. 
  • Understand, interpret and follow legal processes to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, including ensuring that all records and information are recorded, stored and accessible in digital format (where appropriate) in accordance with the Cremation and Data Protection Acts.
  • Responsible for the delivery of an accurate memorial safety programme in both boroughs that is fully recorded.
  • Preparation and presentation of reports and financial information as may be required.
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation and other developments that could affect the management of the cemeteries, paying particular attention to the requirements of religious and ethnic groups who have used or are likely to use the cemeteries
  • At all times to comply with the Rules and Regulations governing cemeteries, as well as all financial regulations, Standing Orders and established administrative procedures

 

Key skills, knowledge and qualifications required:

  • An ICCM Management Diploma or BTEC HNC Diploma in Cemetery and Crematorium Management is desirable.
  • A strong Team Leader who has a proven track record in managing a direct and indirect workforce
  • Conversant with the management and operations of cemeteries
  • An excellent working knowledge of all legislative requirements and recognised industry codes of practice
  • A full valid driving licence is a requirement of the role
