Director of Sales - Hampshire

 

An excellent and new created opportunity now exists for a Director of Sales to join a leading leisure and hospitality business based in Hampshire. My client is a market leader with sites across the South of England and a strong reputation for 1st class customer service delivered by teams who are passionate, driven and enthusiastic about the products they provide to their clients.

 

Reporting directly into the Managing Director, this new Director of Sales role is a pivotal appointment responsible for driving sales and revenue across the business units to ensure the business can achieve its strategic goals. The Director of Sales will be part of the Executive Management Team of the business.

 

Key Tasks and responsibilities for Director of Sales:

  • Overall responsibility for group sales performance, sales strategy, product development and customer loyalty schemes.
  • To review and manage the enquiry generation, management and sales conversion process and make changes to improve the group conversion rate.  
  • You will be responsible for the Sales Management System to include software development (in conjunction with IT), KPI reporting and the creation of online sales tools.
  • You will work with the marketing team, assessing market intelligence, to ensure that communications that relate to the sale of any of our core products target an appropriate market and ensure the results of such campaigns can be monitored effectively. 
  • You will lead the development of a new sales training programme, centrally and across the group and monitor its establishment and understanding in the business and its success.  You will, with the Head of Operations, lead the Site Managers who have ultimate responsibility for sales.
  • You will provide the Executive team and the Board with meaningful sales performance KPI’s by site and by product and establish if our investment in current retention focused site-based activities, such as event open days and member parties meets the needs of our customers and encourages customer retention.
  • You are expected to actively drive the sales process, undertaking retail and commercial sales discussions, monitoring other individuals undertaking the same task and actively engaging with customers for service, research and product improvement information.
  • You will actively pursue new high value tenants to our business, high value meaning tenants that will drive all site-based income.
  • You will work with the Managing Director and other department heads on business development and will be responsible for the pitching of our services in this regard and lead the tender process.
  • You will develop and present to the Board a long-term sales strategy for the business, encompassing core revenue and other income streams.  You will continually evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy and its direct effect on income growth.

Person Specification:

  • You must be able to evidence a proven track record of sales growth in a multi-site capacity, preferably in a long lead in or membership-based leisure business.
  • You must be able to show evidence of a strategic approach to business development.
  • You must be personable, approachable commercial, articulate, smart and intelligent.
  • You must have worked either at Board or Executive team level in a business previously.
  • You must have led a sales team and have had some marketing responsibility.
  • You must demonstrate a hands-on style to drive people, product and profits.
